ArtrA
is an Asset and Facilities Management (FM) system that uses
intelligent data from a 3D building model.
It is developed in the UK by ArTrA Ltd and distributed to dealers and end users through BIM Products Ltd. |

PETROCHEMICAL ASSET & AEC FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
ArtrA is a Building Information Modeling (BIM) solution that enables a virtual information model to be handed from a Design Team (architects, surveyors, consulting engineers, and others), to Contractors and Subcontractors and then to the Owner. The ArtrA BIM solution allows all parties to add their own discipline-specific knowledge and tracking of changes to the single model. ArtrA was originally developed for the petrochemical industry where the requirements to manage, maintain and monitor large amounts of data are a pre-requisite. Now the AEC industry has matured and is adopting BIM technology, ArtrA provides a robust and proven 3D FM solution.
| Using Intelligence All 3D MEP systems contain intelligence, although it often remains hidden or lost 'inside' the CAD model. ArtrA has the power to get at this information and draw it out into a database where it can bring real value to the project. Artra handles models from all CAD systems including PDS, PDMS, MicroStation and all AutoCAD based applications such as Revit MEP, CADPIPE, CADWorx, CADDUCT, MagiCAD and many more. And off course ArtrA is fully IFC complaint for buildingSmart™ projects.
Search, Find, & Visualise ArTrA enables you to search, view and link documents to your 3D model without the need for the originating CAD system. It uses a NavisWorks engine and interface and when a model is opened all of the attributes (without exceptions) are populated into a database. It deals with MEP assets (plant, equipment, HVAC, piping, electrical, containment, lighting & communications) and the building structure. ArTrA runs from the desktop or as an enterprise version for larger projects. It consists of three modules; Librarian, Archiver, and Tracker.
ArtrA Librarian Librarian is ArtrA's document management system for assembling and classifying the project documents & essential information into a database so they may be linked to the model. Document classes are created so that 'types' of data can be grouped into required categories and assigned properties, information and comments. All of these are attached to the 3D model.
ArtrA Archiver
Linking Documents Documents are listed under their pre-assigned classes. To link a document to an item, simply drag and drop the document or a selection of documents ontothe item; or create a search and link documents to the search results.
ArtrA Tracker
Search, Find, View ArtrA's search facility is invaluable when trying to locate items in the plant. If a maintenance crew intends to work on a specific system, it can be found and isolated on screen ready for further interrogation; for example it could determine if scaffolding would be required to service a particular valve or instrument. The system will find items in the model and provide a list of linked documents that might be required. If necessary reports can easily be created such as bills of materials, weights, cost estimates etc. The search capability is also useful in communicating how a system is working to other personnel. For example the cooling water system can be isolated in a search and then reviewed with the surrounding context set transparent. This is much more effective than reviewing hardcopy drawings.
Bookmarks The user can create ‘bookmarks’ or saved views for easy one-click access to specific items, equipment, or systems etc. Bookmarked views can be named and have comments added to them such as descriptions, dates, username etc. They can be used for identifying problem areas or items that require maintenance. Reports listing all the bookmarks allow the FM operator to navigate quickly to them and review any comments, information or instructions they might have.
